Hydroseeding Process Explained

Hydroseeding, also known as hydraulic mulch seeding, hydro-mulching, or hydraseeding, is a modern planting method that uses a slurry of seed and mulch. This mixture is transported in a truck- or trailer-mounted tank and sprayed evenly over prepared soil. Hydroseeding is an efficient alternative to broadcasting dry seed. The mulch retains the moisture level of the seed and seedlings, promotes rapid germination, and prevents soil erosion. The slurry often contains fertilizer, tackifying agents, and green dye to enhance growth and ensure uniform application. It is widely used for lawns, golf courses, commercial sites, highways/motorways, and areas too large or inaccessible for traditional seeding methods. Hydroseeding is faster than sowing seed and more cost-effective than laying sod/turf, delivering healthy, long-lasting lawns.
